Course Overview

In this class we will talk about advertisements. We will look at a wide range of ads from the early nineteenth century to the present, as well as ads for non-commercial purposes―for example, propaganda. We will look at ads in different media―for example, posters, TV commercials, magazine ads. All students welcome.
この授業ではＣＭについて会話します。商業的なＣＭだけではなく１９世紀初期のものから現代にかけていくつかのＣＭをみていき、考察します。ポスター、テレビ、雑誌など様々な方法で広報されたものをみていきます。

B_A-c [言葉の理解] The primary aim of this course is to encourage students to talk about ads and their meanings in a relaxed atmosphere. A secondary aim is to discuss questions of purpose, method, cultural differences and context. Students will be encouraged to try to interpret the social and cultural conditions that the ads reveal, or hide.
B_B2-e [コミュニケーション能力] 学問的な討論の場を通して、自分の意見を精確かつ明確に表現する能力と他者の意見を理解するコミュニケーション能力を鍛錬し、広く世界と交流できる力を養う。
