Course Overview In this course students will examine challenges facing social minorities (immigrants and women), male-female relations(gender relations) in early modern England through in-depth readings of resources in English, research, and presentations. Students will also be introduced to the latest research and methodologies in immigrants as well as gender history.
1. Classes will include assigned readings of the text, presentations, and discussions on the presentations.
2. Students may be assigned to do research and make a presentation on readings of the course text and historical events.
Students will improve their knowledge and skills needed for research and academic writing in history.
Class discussion will focus on how immigration(refugees) , ethnicity, and gender relations were perceived in early modern England or modern Britain as well as in contemporary (Japanese)society.
