Course Overview his course is intended to provide middle-level undergraduates with the psychological exploration, theories, and scientific findings on self/identity, with emphasis on general population (not clinical). The tentative topics to be covered will be as follows: (1) Philosophical and psychological history of self-explorations, (2) self and cognition (e.g., self-concepts/knowledge, information-processing), (3) self and emotion (self-esteem, self-related emotions), (4) self and motivation (possible selves, auto-motive), and (5) self and culture (interdependent/independent self, collectivism/individualism), and (6) self and development (esp. self and attachment). Note that although those topics will be covered, it will depend upon the time availability.
