| Course Overview |
In chapter two of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Alice is so surprised for a moment that she forgets how to speak ‘good English’. In this class, we will read the two Alice books―Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass―and study some of the ‘rules’ of ‘good English’ by studying how those ‘rules’ are deliberately broken during Alice’s adventures. We will also discuss the cultural contexts and various critical interpretations of the books. 「不思議の国のアリス」第二章、アリスはとても驚いていたので、瞬間的にgood Englishが話せなくなっていました。 このクラスでは二つのアリスの本を読みます。「不思議の国のアリス」と「鏡の国のアリス」です。そして、アリスの中でつかわれる壊れた英語から正しい英語のルールを学びます。 |
