Course Overview This course is designed to help students become acquainted with the writing process, especially as it applies to those learning English as a Foreign Language. Writing in general is not an easy thing to do for most people; writing in a language that is not a native language makes the task especially challenging. Thus, this course is designed to help students develop their language skills as well as their writing skills. We will be covering the following topics: how to structure your sentences within a paragraph methodically and thoughtfully, how to focus your writing on a specific topic, how to formulate a thesis, how to organize your written language, how to check and revise your writing, and how to make the leap from "paragraph" to "essay". The student's goal at the end of the semester is to produce a polished essay on the topic of his/her choice, with supervision and guidance at every major step.
