Course Overview We will be reading the second, and by far shortest, novel published by Thomas Pynchon, The Crying of Lot 49. Published three years after his first, V. it represents in a smaller venue many of the concerns that he has treated throughout his published work such as paranoia, entropy. We will also be reading as time permits an essay Pynchon wrote around the same time as the novel and an earlier short story. A couple of handouts will be provided.
