Course Overview In this course, we present the NINJAL Parsed Corpus of Modern Japanese (NPCMJ) -- a corpus of contemporary Japanese texts annotated with syntactic and semantic information -- with a focus on the annotation and semantic calculation framework, an overview of the web interface, and an explanation of the corpus search languages TGrep and TGrep-lite. We encourage students to learn through actual use of the tools and through group work, exploring the possibilities of the NPCMJ and corpus linguistics in general.
