Course Overview The "Mind control"phenomenon is a very important keyword in thinking about political propaganda, terrorism, fraud, unfair religious recruitment, totalitarianism etc. in modern society. In this class, we aim to find the essence of humanity while showing the relationship between this phenomenon and various theories and princples of social psychology. Specifically, we consider the human rights violation and freedom by cult groups etc. in order to understand this phenomenon from a psychological point of view, while presenting the data of the prisoners of the actually occurring case. Especially, we will focus a number of criminal psychology caused by the Aum Shinrikyo, such as the Tokyo subway sarin incident (1995), and the actual judgement.
