| Course Overview |
This course focuses on the concept and the process of McDonaldization, which is a re-formulation of Max Weber's rationalization and also of Frederick Taylor's scientific management. McDonladization consists in the following four elements: efficiency, calculability, predictability and control. This concept is evidently modeled after the fast-food industry. The arguments presented in the textbook, however, apply to various other aspects of our social life as well, and we aim to incorporate these arguments with wider sociological perspective. |
