Course Overview Study of Provincial Government Offices in Ancient Japan

This class introduces the transition and the system of provincial headquarters and local government offices, then discuss the role of government offices in governing by the Japanese nations under the ritsuryo codes.
This class specifically introduces the provincial government offices from the side of spatial structure, function, landscape and unearthed goods, and sort through the reaching points and future issues of the study of provincial government offices.
Using the outcomes by archaeology, philology and histochemical geography, the relationships between traffics and temples is also discussed for considering the provincial government offices.
