| Course Overview |
For this course, we will be reading Paul Auster’s first fiction published under his own name, The New York Trilogy, three short, interrelated novels. These works take the form of detective novels, so lecture and discussion will focus on the nature of the detective story. We will also focus on the dialogue Auster seems to be carrying on with American Romantic writers such as Poe and Hawthorne. |
