| Course Overview |
We will study "Electre", one of Giraudoux’s theatre play, as an example of the gender representation (women) on stage. This play will be put in context especially in the French theatre but the analysis will focus on the dialogue of the play with other texts, ranging from Aristophanes and Seneca, to the classics of French literature, Corneille, Racine, Beaumarchais, and other modern representation of the genre, Anouilh, Genet or Beckett. |
