Course Overview Introduction to Shakespeare

On this course we shall be reading a selection of the work of William Shakespeare, including history, tragedy, comedy, and poetry. We shall read and discuss a small amount of material each week. All members of the class will be expected to have read the texts, and to contribute to class discussion. We shall discuss the literary, biographical and historical context of Shakespearefs work, and by the end of the course, students will have an understanding of the impact of this writer on British culture and beyond. This class will prioritize creative rather than analytical responses.
