Course Overview |
The first half of this course will explore the emergence of cognitive sociolinguistics as a discipline, including historical and theoretical accounts of both cognitive linguistics and sociolinguistics before and after each began to embrace the insights or methods of the other. In the second half of the course, we will begin to focus on the application of cognitive sociolinguistics to various types of data (and we will maintain this focus in Cognitive Sociolinguistics II, to be taught in the Fall semester). |
