Course Overview Although Western Christianity consists of Catholicism and Protestantism, most Japanese understand Christianity on the basis of Protestantism. This course offers selected themes on religious practices within Catholic culture. The main purpose is to understand the diversity of Christian culture.
We also pay attention to the concepts of Public Religion in order to examine how the Catholic Church adjusts to the modern secularized world, and how it engages to the political society.
