Žö‹Æ‚ÌŠT—v In this course we will investigate the pronunciation of English. Standard pronunciations of British and American English will be discussed in most detail; however, a number of less familiar varieties will also be studied. In this course, we will pay close attention to the differences of pronunciation that exist in different varieties of English, and we will also examine word stress and intonation patterns. Students who actively participate in this course will improve their listening skills and English pronunciation.
ŠwK–Ú•W Improved perception and production of English sounds and intonation patterns. Students gain a greater awareness and understanding of regional and social differences in English pronunciation.
Žö‹Æ‚Ìi‚ß•û Readings and other exercises must be completed as homework. During class we will do speaking and listening activities. Active participation is essential.
