Course Overview The theme of this class is "Religion and War". Religion is a unique human activity, and war and military affairs are also unique human activities. The ultimate aim of this class is to provide an opportunity to reconsider human beings, society and peace through the overlap between "religion" and "war/military affairs". We will look at issues of war, military and peace focusing mainly on the history of Christianity, but we will also consider American military chaplains and the Japanese Army in the Showa era.
