授業の概要 This graduate seminar aims to provide fundamental academic trainings in Modern Japanese History and Japanese Art History. It consists of theme-oriented sections, discussing primary material (painting, object, maps, archives), methodology, literature review, etc. Students will learn basic skills of looking, reading, and critical thinking through museum visits, extensive reading, working with primary materials, and writing.

講義 The class content includes object viewing, museum visits, library/archive viewing, and onsite viewing, which will be held outside of the classroom, as well as reading, and discussions in class. The schedule will be irregular due to the instructor's schedule conflicts.
